An announcement has been made by IIIT-Hyderabad and Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) for the establishment of a Center of Excellence (COE) for Artificial Intelligence in Missile Tech. The Director of IIIT-Hyderabad, Prof P. J. Narayanan and CMD of BDL, Commodore Siddharth Mishra (Retd) has formally launched the COE. The projects that the COE will take up are in the following:
- AI activities in missiles
- AI activities in manufacturing
- AI activities in the inspection
- As well as allied areas
Within IIIT-H research groups, it will function as an AI Laboratory for BDL, building an understanding of BDL’s products and business. As per mutually agreed scope, the COE will take up to five projects in a year, including both software and hardware.
Director of IIIT-Hyderabad, Prof. P. J. Narayanan said that at their Kohli Centre for Intelligent Systems the top-ranked AI research group is very well positioned to enable the use of AI in BDL products. He said to be a part of products of national importance it is a matter of pride for them.
Commodore Siddharth Mishra (Retd) CMD, BDL commented on the occasion that they will be able to integrate AI strategy in their products to accelerate the journey of producing efficient and user-friendly defence equipment by partnering with IIIT-H, one of the top-ranked AI research groups.
