Dasamahotsava: A Decade of Gaudium Celebrated Through Art and Heritage

by admin

As we celebrate the completion of a glorious decade of Gaudium, our students illuminated this milestone with the grand event Dasamahotsava—a three-day extravaganza of art, culture, and creativity.

The celebration was a beautiful tapestry woven through four themes: Dasha Neeti, Dasha Prerna, Dasha Disha, and Dasha Avatara, each brought to life through mesmerizing programs of dance, music, and drama.

Among these, Dasha Avatara stood out as a profound exploration of ancient scriptures, connecting their timeless lessons to modern-day challenges. Often, we wonder if the stories from our sacred texts hold relevance in today’s fast-paced world, where rationality and debate dominate the mindset of the youth.

With Dasha Avatara, we sought to bridge this gap, reinterpreting these ancient narratives to resonate with the lives of teenagers today.

The journey began with Prashna, the protagonist of our story—a teenager brimming with questions about life, happiness, and the world.

Through Prashna’s eyes, the ancient tales came alive, offering wisdom for contemporary challenges. Each avatar of Vishnu provided profound insights:

  • Matsya reminded us of the importance of adapting to changes and preserving knowledge.
  • Kurma emphasized building a strong foundation of trust and skills to navigate life’s storms.
  • Varaha taught us that true strength lies in doing what is right, even when faced with adversity.
  • Narasimha highlighted unwavering faith and resilience, inspiring us to stand firm in the face of challenges.
  • Vamana showed us the value of humility and gratitude, cautioning against the pitfalls of pride.
  • Parshuram illustrated the need for compassion alongside courage, teaching us to balance strength with empathy.
  • Rama demonstrated the essence of duty, integrity, and unwavering commitment to righteousness.
  • Krishna’s interaction with Draupadi underscored equality and the importance of standing for Dharma in a divided world.
  • Buddha gently reminded us that pain and suffering are integral to life, and true happiness comes from embracing them with equanimity.

These stories came alive through powerful performances that seamlessly blended ancient wisdom with contemporary relevance. The musical enactment of Mother Earth teaching Parshuram compassion was a captivating experience.

The war wounded Ravana and his ten heads showed us how uncontrolled ambition can lead to self-destruction.  Even when everything around us seems hopeless, like during the flood or the landslide, we can find strength in each other. We can keep going, keep helping, keep believing just like Prahlad believed in Vishnu.

The artistic brilliance extended beyond the enactments. The students presented a stunning array of performances, including the cultural richness of Kerala through dances like Vallam Kali, Kaikottikali, Mohiniyattam, and Pulikali, and the warrior spirit of women showcased in Thang Ta.

From the beautifully choreographed Ksheerasagara Madhanam to the battle of Varaha and Hiranyaksha and the Vanar Sena constructing the bridge for Rama, every act was a visual and emotional masterpiece.

The walkway to the event was transformed into a divine path, adorned with extraordinary paintings of the Dashavatars created by our talented art teachers.

Behind this grand vision lay the relentless efforts and collaboration of every student, teacher, and team. Under the exemplary leadership of Ms. Sudeshna, and with the steadfast guidance, support, and vision of Kirthi Ma’am and RK Sir, this initiative reached unparalleled heights.

Kirthi Ma’am’s unwavering commitment, strategic direction, and encouragement were instrumental in steering this project to success.

The dedication and hard work of the PR, HR, IT, and Media teams further transformed this dream into a remarkable reality, driven by the management’s visionary approach and constant motivation.

Dasamahotsava was not just a celebration of art but a reaffirmation of our shared cultural heritage and values. It was a journey that connected our roots to our aspirations, leaving everyone inspired, enlightened, and proud to be a part of the Gaudium family.
