The Delhi Arts Curriculum stems from the recommendations as mentioned in the National Education Policy, 2020. The curriculum is launched in selected Sarvodaya schools following the training of teachers. The study addresses the need for children to be engaged artistic activities as a pivotal part of their education. The report provides findings and necessary recommendations to bring art as a part of children’s education and development. It also comes up at a time when loss of learning is becoming a huge challenge to overcome. Further steps are to be taken for ensuring the inclusion of arts as a part of mainstream education across all Delhi Government Schools.
This initiative has been a key change maker in many schools of Delhi. This opportunity was used by NalandaWay foundation to introduce many art related activities such as music, dance, visual arts, theater, and media arts every day. It was carried out for children between the ages of 3 and 13. It yielded a positive result at the end of that year. They learned to appreciate art, improve social-emotional skills, and learn art skills. It also increased the student participation, attendance, confidence and social interaction.
