As part of this initiative, a new subject titled Kaushal Bodh will be introduced in Class 6, and gradually extended to Classes 7 and 8 in the following years. The programme aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023, and is structured around three core domains:
- Work with Life Forms
- Work with Machines and Materials
- Work in Human Services
Students will complete one hands-on project in each area annually, dedicating a total of 110 hours to skill-building activities over the academic year.
Hands-On Learning Activities
The curriculum will feature a variety of experiential tasks such as:
- Organic farming
- Pottery
- Carpentry
- Embroidery
- Cooking with millets
- Basic electrical repairs
Teachers will guide students through these activities, focusing on safety, collaboration, and practical application of concepts.
Assessment and Implementation
Student evaluation will be based on:
- Written assessments
- Oral presentations
- Activity logs
- Portfolios
- Teacher observations
School principals will oversee project implementation and ensure teachers are trained and supported to integrate vocational learning into daily teaching.
Kaushal Melas and Skill Showcases
To celebrate and display student work, the Directorate of Education will organise Kaushal Melas, where learners can present their projects through live demonstrations and interactive exhibits.
