In a recent update, playschools in the national capital will be required to register with the Department of Women and Child Development of the Delhi government. This directive follows a meeting involving the department, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), and the Delhi Education Department, during which concerns were raised about numerous playschools not adhering to established norms.
The NCPCR highlighted various deficiencies in the current functioning of playschools during the meeting. The Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government was informed that specific playschools in the city were not following the established norms.
Some parents are enrolling their children in playschools as early as the age of two, which is a clear violation of child rights norms. As a result, playschools throughout the national capital will need to undergo registration with the Delhi government. The department will promptly make the application form available on its official website, to accelerate the registration procedure. The corresponding link will be distributed through advertisements, providing clear guidelines on playschool operations. This initiative is anticipated to align playschools with existing regulations, fostering a more standardized and regulated environment for young learners.
