Discovery Education has introduced significant accessibility enhancements to DreamBox Math, an adaptive K-8 online mathematics programme designed to supplement classroom and home learning. The updates aim to provide a more inclusive experience for all K-5 students, particularly those with disabilities.
DreamBox Math dynamically adjusts to each learner, offering personalised instruction within an engaging, gamified environment. The programme is available in both English and Spanish and aligns with mathematics standards. Teachers benefit from actionable reports, content-specific professional development, and tools to differentiate instruction, while administrators gain valuable insights into student progress.
To exceed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines standards, DreamBox Math has been upgraded through collaboration with educators, special education experts, and students with disabilities. Enhancements include improved compatibility with assistive technology, enhanced screen reader functionality, intuitive keyboard navigation, and clearer visuals for students with low vision or colour blindness. Interactive elements have been refined for easier use across devices and learning styles. Additionally, all lessons now feature replayable instructions to improve student engagement and understanding.
Further updates have been made to DreamBox Math’s Racecourse lessons, which help students represent equivalent fractions. Based on teacher and student feedback, improvements include a new “Road Trip” context for better task clarity, numbered intervals to streamline problem-solving, larger visuals, and enhanced scaffolding to support learning progression.
