On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Brainfeed took the opportunity to recognize the efforts of twenty exceptional women leaders in the field of education. We featured them in our cover story “Women Edupreneurs” of March 2023 edition of the Brainfeed Magazine. These women leaders focused and strived for creating a positive ecosystem at their workplace that helped other women in contributing to their fullest and ushering in the much needed change. Each one of these women educational entrepreneurs shared what it took them to successfully complete their entrepreneurial journey during which they have explored and found new identities for themselves and other women working with them.
As an educator my quest is to explore new ways to advance education and create an environment that fosters scope of learning at every sphere. We as a team have been trying to introduce creative and effective ideas to improve the learning environment by creating a positive school culture, integrating technology, supporting professional development, personalized programs catering to individual needs of the students, building relationships between school and the community.
Education has the power to transform individuals, communities and societies. Education can be engaging, enriching, and empowering by:
- A shift towards student centered approach emphasizing active learning, collaboration and critical thinking will be up skilling the learners at large.
- Social- emotional skills such as self-awareness, empathy and self-regulation must be prioritized.
- Embrace the transformation by incorporating technology in meaningful ways by preparing the students for the digital age
- Collaborating with parents, societies, communities, local businesses to create a holistic approach in order to recognize the diverse needs and experiences of the students
- Investing on professional development of educators. Opportunities must be created focusing on developing teaching skills that promote student engagement, creativity and critical thinking.
- Encouraging creativity and innovation by providing opportunities for learners – to explore, experiment and exhibit their innate talents.
Making education transformational requires a concerted effort from Government, private organizations and individuals. Together adapting this change for a better tomorrow is thinkable. Managing school is a complex and multifaceted task, any change must be aimed at improving the quality of education by making it more accessible and relevant to the needs of the students and society. Adapting these changes will enable us to create an education system that prepares students for life.
