by Subeditor1

On February 25, 2024, Himachal Pradesh’s Education Minister, Rohit Thakur, highlighted that the state’s literacy rate had surpassed 88%, a significant increase from the 8% rate at the time of India’s independence. He attributed this improvement to the exceptional quality of education provided by the state’s government schools. The Minister stated this while speaking as a chief guest at the launch of the ‘Mere Shehar Ke 100 Ratan’ scholarship by Crack Academy across all 68 constituencies of the state.

According to Minister Rohit Thakur, students from government schools have achieved remarkable success in leading institutions and various fields. Students from these schools were not only serving in Himachal Pradesh but also across India and globally. Himachal Pradesh now has the second-highest literacy rate in the country. According to Minister Thakur, this success is credited to Himachal Pradesh’s educational framework, which has led to a high ratio of Indian Administrative Officers per capita and elevated the state’s per capita income, ranking it among the highest in the country.
