The education ministers of India and Australia Dharmendra Pradhan and John Clare and are set to sign a mutual agreement on enhancing the student mobility between the two countries. Clare is leading a delegation of higher education leaders from Australia in promoting institutional collaborations and partnerships between India and Australia.
Both the ministers will sign the “Mechanism for the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications” in the coming days. Through this agreement, rules will be set for the mutual recognition of university qualifications in India and Australia. The Indian education minister Dharmendra Pradhan took up multilayered discussions with regard to this, on his previous trip to Australia. Skill recognition is categorized as the core element of this educational collaboration between the two countries.

It will play a key role in enhancing the student mobility between the two countries. The National Education Policy of the Narendra Modi government has a set a target to get 50 percent of young Indians into higher and vocational education by the year 2035. This is a nation-changing goal for India and a welcoming opportunity for Australian education providers to collaborate with India.
Australian Education Minister John Clare is leading a comprising of Australian vice chancellors and other higher education leaders who represent educational institutions such as RMIT University, University of Queensland, University of Sydney, La Trobe University, Western Sydney University, University of Wollongong, University of NSW, Central Queensland University, Charles Darwin University, and the University of South Australia.
The former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist, who serves as the global ambassador of University of Wollongong, is also part of the delegation.
