On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Brainfeed took the opportunity to recognize the efforts of twenty exceptional women leaders in the field of education. We featured them in our cover story “Women Edupreneurs” of March 2023 edition of the Brainfeed Magazine. These women leaders focused and strived for creating a positive ecosystem at their workplace that helped other women in contributing to their fullest and ushering in the much needed change. Each one of these women educational entrepreneurs shared what it took them to successfully complete their entrepreneurial journey during which they have explored and found new identities for themselves and other women working with them.
In the education sector, we can se mostly and inspiring teachers are teaching in different areas such as education, music, creativity etc. I also do feel that female educators empower the mindset of the upcoming generation It’s more like the education sector is empowering in terms of women being at the front line. Many educational institutions, including ours, mostly hire female teachers. Not just in education but in various other fields women are constantly prospering. Being in the field I am in, I have met so many mothers who are working while creating that balance between work life and private life. It is lovely to see as they are associated with different organisations, they are managing that balance beautifully.
So, what I truly believe is that the education sector prospers irrespective of gender. It is not just about gender but the kind of mindset you are holding, the kind of work, and the kind of passion you have towards anything you want to do in life. If you have that willingness to work, there are gonna be challenges, you will have days where everything seems all good and there are gonna be days where you do have the lows and the resistance up ahead of you and that’s completely fine. It’s not subjected to one particular gender
We are lifelong learners as educators and teachers Education is transformational, it transforms everyone’s life and that’s why we hold education as an important aspect of who a person is Through education, we open up so many opportunities to every child, we inspire our children, and we become role models having a positive impact on our kids as well.
For me, getting into education was not something I had planned. However, I always had this inclination towards children. Growing up, one of my favourite subjects was psychology. So, in my undergrads, I specialised in Elementary Education and then I pursued MSc in Psychology. Later I specialised in Child Psychology. When I joined the institution, Emerald Heights, I started with the younger ones, pre-primary and primary & Class III to class V. My step First, I got into the institution understood things that already have been happening adapted to that and then furthermore thought about my value add t something that is already s on for so many years
After understanding all these took over the curriculum aspect of it. I realised in today’s day and age, it is very important to be updated and adapt to new learning methodologies got myself involved and redid our curriculum Now our kids have STEM, story-telling, dramatics and brain metrics, while the younger ones go for Montessori. Other than academics, what else can be offered to the students is what we are currently trying to achieve.
Before covid, we were working on a project called, Niranjana Girls School. We were in full swing for launching it Unfortunately, we were hit by covid. So, we thought to wait for a year and finally launched it in 2021. It is a venture that I am completely looking after. It’s a passion project for us, all-girls schools from nursery to class VIII. It’s very exciting because it has a very different concept. Our school is to give education to girls from different strata of society. This project has been orchestrated in memory of our founder Lt Mrs Suneeta Singh ji. We firmly believe that if these girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create an incredible future, not only for themselves but for all the people who are gonna be around them.
Michelle Obama said, “There is no limit to what we as women can accomplish, so as teachers as well, I am sure that somewhere or the other we tend to inspire our kids, our students”
