The government of Himachal Pradesh has decided to keep the educational institutes in the state closed till April 15 in view of the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in certain areas, said Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

Earlier, the government of Himachal Pradesh had decided to close the schools, colleges, and other educational instituted in the state from March 27 to April 4, but the closure has now been extended till April 15 in view of the Covid-19 cases.

The chief minister said that the three Himachal Pradesh districts bordering Punjab such as Una, Kangra, and Solan are registering a large number of new Covid-19 cases these days, due to which the schools and colleges are being closed.

Now that the schools and colleges in the state have been shut down till mid-April, all the classes will be conducted through online platforms. The educational institutes will only reopen once the Covid-19 situation in the state is reviewed.

Date sheet revised for board exams

In February, the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education had also revised the date sheet of Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021 for this academic year. The revised date sheets were uploaded on the official website of HPBOSE in February.

The HPBOSE board exams 2021 are set to be held from April 13 to April 26, 2021. The exams will be conducted in two sessions- morning sessions from 8:45 am to 12 pm and evening sessions from 1:45 pm to 5 pm. The dates for open school exams have also been released.

This year, the syllabus for the state board exams in Himachal Pradesh has also been reduced for students of classes 10 and 12 due to the lack of offline classes this academic session in view of the closure of schools due to the pandemic.

Due to the rise in cases, the state government has already put some restrictions on social gatherings and started strict enforcement of mask-wearing, the CM said, adding that the hoteliers have been asked to follow Covid-19 guidelines.
