Vividh Gupta, Principal of Bal Bhavan Public School, Delhi
Every year on the 5th of September, India celebrates Teacher’s Day in memory of a great teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan whose contribution to academia remains unmatched. In this edition, Mr. Vividh Gupta, the Principal of Bal Bhavan Public School talks to us about his struggles during the pandemic which framed him as a teacher! In a conversation with Brainfeed Magazine, he talks about his outlook on education, the philosophy he follows and the journey he has endured so far! Here is the excerpt:
“I personally believe that teaching is not merely a profession, but rather a reflection of an individual’s moral strength, compassion, and self-discipline. A teacher is one of the few remaining vestiges of humanity, ‘servitude before self’, a value that shapes, or rather sustains the society at large. Although, it’s a brave voyage, for it is subject to the ever-changing fabric of the world and contemporary influences.
One of the screeching halts to my journey was, of course, COVID-19. Those two academic sessions gave birth to my personal motto and belief, ‘Every challenge is an opportunity in disguise. During this time I learned to strive hard, even when the possibilities of success were next to impossible. From becoming the leader of a ‘Microsoft Showcase School’ to being conferred with the title of ‘Delhi State Teacher’s Award 2022’, the lessons have been equally immense and have truly added to my personality, both on the personal and professional front. Over the course of time, I have learned to embrace hurdles with compassion. Thus, it’s a day to express my sincere acknowledgment to those who taught us life lessons, gave us direction, and treaded paths for goodness.”
