One of the committee’s members said on Wednesday that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 review group, which met in West Bengal, had given the Department of Education its conclusions. The panel was constituted in the first week of April 2022 and members comprised Professor Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak of Columbia University, professor Suranjan Das, vice chancellor of Jadavpur University, and professor Sugata Bose of Harvard University.
Yes, the observations made by each member have been compiled and sent to the principal secretary of the education department for review, and the senior academic confirmed to PTI. The department is currently assessing the same. The panellists noted that the agency would thoroughly review the submitted proposals before drafting an official response.
The specialists on the committee will advise the state as and when the NEP is implemented, the education minister Bratya Basu told PTI on Tuesday. “These are all well-known individuals recognised for their accomplishments on a global scale” ( committee members). “They have raised our state and us up. On July 29, 2020, the Union government enacted NEP 2020, which superseded the National Policy on Education, 1986, which had been in force for 34 years. The draught policy stipulates that students in grades 3, 5, and 8 will be required to take exams that will be administered by the proper authorities. There will be new board exams for grades 10 and 12.
