Being media literate is vital. In the Primary and Middle Wing, Cinema is an integral part of the curriculum and has helped students learn to relate and reflect better. It has also helped them in self-expressing their thoughts well. Film education is beneficial for increasing student engagement and has improved their writing, literacy and behavioural skills.
To make education more purposeful, core ethical values has to be emphasized. Fostering ethics into school systems to create a code of conduct for students, staff, and faculty is very important. Including ethics and moral education as a subject in the curriculum, starting from elementary school till senior secondary is a way forward. Encouraging ethical discussions and debates in classrooms to help students develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and respect for diverse perspectives should be religiously observed. Curating a safe and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and values without fear of judgment or ridicule and using real-life case studies to demonstrate ethical dilemmas and encouraging them to think about how they would respond in these situations should be actively taken upon. Students and teachers should brainstorm ideas without any fear of judgment or criticism. This approach would allow students to think freely and develop creative and innovative solutions with fluidity of thought and expression.
