It has been instructed by the Uttar Pradesh education department to distribute free school bag to the social welfare department run school students from Class I to VIII, by August 20. It was fixed as Rs 113.28 per school bag as the cost of procurement by the state authorities. Conducting the procurement and to ensure that good quality bags are distributed timely have to be done by the district authorities. In case of delay in the delivery of bags to the district authorities’ penalty will be issued on the distributor.
For a one-week delay, the penalty imposed will be 1% value of the delayed quantity, it will be 2% of the delayed quantity for a two-week delay and so on till the fourth week. The Directorate may exercise the option of termination of agreement and forfeiture of the security deposit amount if the supplier fails to deliver the school bags, even after the fourth week.
The order issued by Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh, UP education director (basic) read that “All basic Shiksha adhikaris should inform us about the number of school bags needed and in which size – small, medium or large– positively by June 19, 2019. All of you are also instructed to see that school bags are distributed for free among students studying in government schools run by the social welfare department from Class I to VIII by August 20.”
For Class I and II students the small bag size is meant, for Class III-IV and V students the medium, and for Class VI, VII and VIII the large size is meant.
