The Global Learning Council (GLC), headquartered at the Villars Institute (VI) in Switzerland, is driving a global educational transformation, particularly in emerging economies such as India, Brazil, Rwanda, and Kenya. In India, GLC has partnered with Schoolnet India to enhance education through technology, aiming to reach 10 million students in five years.
The collaboration has already launched three impactful initiatives: a pan-India ideathon, capacity-building programmes for affordable private schools with the International Baccalaureate (IB), and a Climate Leadership course for students in Grades 6–8.
On 24 January 2025, the EcoInnovators Ideathon Grand Finale was held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. This nationwide competition challenged students from over 800 schools to propose innovative solutions to environmental challenges using technologies like AI, IoT, and robotics. The top 10 teams showcased their projects, with Team Vanguard from Delhi Public School Electronic City, Bengaluru, emerging as winners. Their exceptional work earned them a spot at the Villars Symposium in Switzerland.
The event featured 250+ students from Delhi/NCR and included an interactive quiz powered by Schoolnet’s AI-driven Geneo app. Prizes worth ₹1.5 lakh were awarded to finalists and participants.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, IAS, praised the integration of emerging technologies in education and emphasised the government’s support for such initiatives. Dr. Subra Suresh, GLC President, highlighted the programme’s alignment with fostering sustainability and intergenerational collaboration.
This partnership, strengthened by IB and GLC/VI, underscores a commitment to creating innovative, inclusive, and impactful education for the future.
