Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya embraces Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – Dr. Muneshwara Lakha, Director, Gnyana Sudha Group of Institutions, Bidar, Karnataka

by admin

Dr Muneshwara Lakha was an employee of Bidar District administration. He was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and played a major role in the development of Bidar city. After serving for 20 years, he opted for voluntary retirement to start Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya. Started with 20 students, the school caters to more than 3,500 students today. As a firm believer that the principles of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam offer a roadmap to a better future, the school is a testimony to the concept. With a desire to see his home district producing IAS Officers, he started a Civil Services Academy under the banner of Gnyana Sudha Education Society.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a timeless principle that has been a part of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage for centuries. Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya is proud to say that it follows this timeless principle. Every individual at Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya implements the principle of Universal Brotherhood. All the students and teachers begin their speech by saying Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Teachers at Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya teach students to develop a secular mindset. The message of universal brotherhood and the interconnectedness of all beings remains as relevant today as it was in the past, and continues to inspire individuals and organizations to work towards creating a better and more harmonious world. This ancient Indian philosophy encourages individuals to see themselves as part of a larger global community and to act with a sense of responsibility to the well-being of others and the planet.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam offers a roadmap to a better future. By promoting unity, cooperation, and mutual respect, we can work towards resolving conflicts and reducing inequalities. This will create a world that is more peaceful, harmonious, and inclusive. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam offers a powerful reminder that every individual has a role to play in building a better world.

Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya teaches students to inculcate the concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” in day-to-day life by embracing diversity and not to see people through the prism of caste and creed. Students are taught to practice empathy, respect other religions, help others in need, lead by example, share knowledge, contribute to the common good and adopt a holistic worldview.

In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is more relevant than ever before. We live in a global village where boundaries between nations, cultures, and people are becoming increasingly blurred. Hence, it becomes imperative to embrace the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and strive to create a world where everyone is treated equally with dignity and integrity.

Some concepts such as Class Supervisor and HOD were introduced that paid dividends. Performance based analysis, counseling, adapting to smart classrooms, field trips, exhibitions, skits, and establishing a swimming pool, (first in the district) have helped.

Gnyana sudha vidyalaya is the first school in the entire district to introduce archery. The chinese martial art form wushu was introduced and students won silver and bronze medals in national level wushu competition. The open air gymnasium in the school campus is the first of its kind in northern karnataka. To create awareness about conserving nature, muneshwara introduced the concept of ‘nature walk’ in the school.

In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is more relevant than ever before. We live in a global village where boundaries between nations, cultures, and people are becoming increasingly blurred
