Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that all government schools in Tripura will remain closed till April 23, 2023 due to ongoing heat wave conditions. The announcement was made yesterday through a Facebook post by the Chief Minister. Keeping in view the scorching sun which may have adverse impact on students’ health the government has taken a decision to close all state-run government and government-aided schools for this week. Chief Minister Manik Saha also appealed to all private schools in the state to do the same in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions. There are 4,226 government and government-aided schools in Tripura that have been closed for this week following the Chief Minister’s announcement.
Meanwhile, no such closure has been announced for colleges and universities. All colleges and universities in the state will function as usual. The maximum temperatures in Tripura for the last three days is hovering around 37degree Celsius.
West Bengal government has made a similar announcement two days ago keeping view the rising temperature and heat wave conditions in the state. The School Education Department and the Department of Higher Education in Bengal have ordered the closure of all the schools in the state. All state-run as well as private schools are closed in the state till April 23, 2023.Notifications to this effect have been issued to all schools to remain closed this week. This government order with regard closure of all schools due to heat wave conditions is applicable to all the regions in West Bengal except Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts which are basically hilly regions. All schools in these two districts will function as usual.
