The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has released guidelines for Class 11 students choosing the Science stream, specifically group A (non-medical) and group AB (both biology and mathematics).
According to the rules issued by GSHSEB, students must have passed the basic mathematics subject in their Class 10 board exams with at least 33 percent marks, not including any grace marks, to qualify for admission to Class 11.
Since the 2021-22 academic year, Class 10 students are made to take exams in two mathematics subjects: basic and standard.
Additionally, the board has instructed schools to conduct a separate 30-mark test based on the standard mathematics subject to evaluate students’ ability and aptitude. This test will consist of 15 multiple-choice questions and 15 subjective questions. Students must score at least 33 percent to qualify for admission to Class 11 in groups A or AB.
Furthermore, schools have been asked to hold personal meetings with students to review their performance from Classes 6 to 10. Schools must also conduct regular mathematics tests in Class 11.
The board stated that these rules must be informed to parents and students, seeking admission to the Class 11 Science streams.
