The national award-winning teachers were already felicitated by PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday, prior to September 5, 2018. This time the teachers who had shown greater innovation in their work, added value to the schools and their students were selected under the revised guidelines.
Unlike earlier, this time the number of awardees was brought down to 45 to do justice with the prestige of the award. The nominated teachers had to give a presentation before an independent jury last month. A whopping 6692 applications were sent from all over the country. A total of 152 teachers were selected from all the states, union territories, and organizations.
The awards will be conferred with awards by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday.
On this grand day of celebrating, loving, respecting the teachers, who have been giving their incessant input to raise the students as tomorrow’s leaders, Rajasthan government has planned a grand celebration. To make this a success, they have also issued an order that teachers appointed after Dec 13, 2013, would lose salary for a single day if anyone failed to attend the government-organized state-level function.
Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the move by stating, “Their behavior towards beneficiaries is quite condemnable. The beneficiaries are not slaves of the government that they can be called any time at the discretion of the government. This can never be termed as a respectable invite for them.”
