Sheetal Labru has 27 years of experience in teaching out of which she spent 13 years at Ryan International School. For her schooling is an extended process that transforms individuals in all they experience and go through within the institution. Sheetal believes in turning students into brand ambassadors of peace, compassion, tolerance and brotherhood by instilling human values.
The implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is underway and the transition is already happening. The focus on marks needs a transformation and what we need to actually pay attention to, is wellness and happiness quotient of students as well as their mentors, be it parents or teachers. Adaptation to new technology in the future takes along the old value system to keep the foundation of education rock-solid and on a firm ground.
With the aim of NEP being hundred percent literacy for youth and adults in our country, it becomes the responsibility of each stakeholder to take education seriously. The emphasis should not be only to empower each child with literacy but also to hone the skills of specially talented and gifted children. There is a need to provide them bigger platforms and opportunities, to tap on their special abilities and make our children sensible but also sensitive towards others – humans as well as other creatures and their environment.
Students at Ryan are made aware of their responsibilities towards safeguarding the planet. The emphasis is not just on making them literate but educated, not just helping them become independent but also embrace new ideas of others, to broaden their thought process, expand their horizons and to have the power to change as well as adapt to changes.
The most valuable lesson learnt over the years is that change is the only constant and we all need to adapt ourselves to change and that, sometimes to learn something new, we need to unlearn or relearn too. What is essential is to maintain a positive attitude both individually and professionally. With this thought, Sheetal tried to always create a positive mindset especially during the time of Pandemic or any kind of adverse situation where there was self-doubt or anxiety or lack of faith or required reassurance or a gentle push in the right direction and also motivation.
Sheetal’s skill set as a leader has always included an amalgamation of traits like training, counselling, mentoring, grooming, encouraging and motivating her team members and empowering them to find their strengths, use their skills and work to the best of their abilities.
Sheetal tries and creates value and worth for each member of her team. By empowering them, she ensures that they are contributing their best for the students. This enables her to build trust, in not just her teachers and students but also parents who are partners in creating a stable, continuous, holistic and value-based learning environment for students.
The emphasis is not just on making them literate but educated, not just helping them become independent but also embrace new ideas of others, to broaden their thought process, expand their horizons and have the power to change as well as adapt to changes
