Oskar Schlemmer, the great German Painter known for his work “Triadisches Ballett” or Triadic Ballet is remembered and honored by Google through their doodle on his 130th birth anniversary.
Google noted that “With three dancers, 12 movements, and 18 costumes, Oskar Schlemmer’s innovative approach to ballet broke with all convention to explore the relationship between body and space in new and exciting ways”. The artist’s own comments on the painting were — “artistic metaphysical mathematics” and a “party in form and color”.
Schlemmer had also served his nation in WWI and learned design theory at a very young age. He had also impressed the Bauhaus School in Weimar with his mural-painting and sculpting skills. He suffered serious consequences and slander in Nazi-dictated Germany. About 50 years after his death in 1948, his painting Idealistic Encounter (1928) was auctioned for a whopping $1.487 million at Sotheby, New York.
