The Ministry of Education recently held discussions with CBSE about introducing two board exams per year from the next academic session. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that CBSE will soon seek public feedback on this proposal.
How Will It Help Students?
Less Exam Stress
Holding two board exams will help students manage exam-related stress. They will have the option to improve their scores by appearing twice. However, sitting for both exams will not be mandatory.
Flexible Exam Choices
Students can decide whether to appear for one or both exams based on their preparation and convenience. This flexibility allows them to plan better without unnecessary pressure.
Different Difficulty Levels
Subjects such as Math and Science will be offered at both basic and standard levels. This system provides students with more opportunities to improve their performance and choose the level that suits them best.
Better Score Selection
The two-exam system ensures that students receive the highest possible scores. They can select their best result from either of the two exams. This will maximise their chances of achieving better grades.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan previously stated that students appearing for Class 10 and 12 board exams will have the option to attempt them twice, similar to the JEE entrance exam. He clarified that students can select their highest score, but participation in both exams will remain optional.
Officials are considering three possible schedules. One option follows a semester system, with the first exam in January-February and the second in March-April. Another proposal suggests holding the second set of exams in June alongside improvement or supplementary exams. However, no final decision has been made, and discussions are still ongoing to determine the best approach.
