HR in Education is gaining traction

Business planning and running an organisation no longer exists in a vaccum. In the ever changing world, the role of a Human Resources specialist or manager is crucial. HR managers need to become strategic partners in the development of the organization. In this changing aura of workspaces, aligning with technology, HRs (Human Resources) are playing a pivotal role in equipping knowledge, skills and demands while merging them together. The roles and responsibilities of a HR include recruiting employees, managing employee relations, conducting compensation and benefits of the company, keeping a track of performance, and training and guiding employees. 

The need for HR Education:-

The rising demands for HR Education involve understanding of strategies and objectives of a company, determining talent acquisition, meeting the demands of the target audience, compensations for the employees, and performance management. HR Education aligns companies globally while navigating international employment laws, cultural differences, and global talent management strategies. 

Why do Schools need HR Education:-

As HRs are being prioritized in companies in present days, instilling HR Education in schools can make students future ready, especially for those who are keen to pursue that career. Besides, teaching roles and responsibilities of a HR, having a HR can let school educators know about latest teaching methods, curriculum changes, and education trends. It can even maintain a positive workplace while mitigating conflicts in between educators and parents. 

 HR Education fosters strategic workforce within the school and observe whether it’s aligning with the goal, mission and vision of the school. Besides all these factors they optimize budget allocations in schools. 

HR Education can develop critical thinking within a student’s mind while letting them to take informed decisions including making them learn leadership skills.  

Ways through which HR Education can be implemented in schools:-

  • Integrating it into the Curriculum – To teach HR Education in schools, educators need to integrate it within the curriculum or syllabus, it should include chapters or activities on recruitment, employee relations, performance management in a company, and strategic HR Management. 
  • Concept can be incorporated within subjects – HR Education elements can be incorporated within subjects such as – business studies, social studies or in career and technical education. It can even be implemented in psychology, sociology or economics. 
  • Invite guest speakers and industrial professionals – Invite guest speakers and industrial professionals to give speeches on HR Education and share their personal experiences so that students can demonstrate real world challenges and their solutions. 
  • Use technology – Utilize technology to enhance HR Education, as through online platforms students will be able to gain personalised learning while having a better view of the profession. 
  • Conduct assessments and evolutions – Administer assessments to evaluate a student’s understanding of HR concepts and developing skills. This could include examinations, presentations, projects, or performance evolutions, and also provide a constructive feedback to them so that they can improve themselves in understanding of HR principles. 
  • Practical Experience – Let students get hands on practical experience by taking them to workplaces or companies. Collaborate with local businesses or organizations to provide real world HR experiences to students. 

Ms. Anjali Jain, Edupreneur at Sapphire International School, Delhi, said that HR Education prepares a child ahead for future as it aligns with the 21st century skills. It involves resume writing and makes a child job ready. 

Schools are recognising the importance of Human Resources and are making a conscious attempt to integrate HR in school curriculum
