HRD reveals percentage of Indian classrooms that need repairs

Upendra Kushwaha, Minister of State, HRD, has informed Lok Sabha that only 7.73 percent school classrooms across India need major repairs. The declaration is based on the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE). Sharing further details, the Minister of State, shares that the percentage of schools having buildings in dilapidated condition is 0.67.

According to his statement, in October 2014, Human Resource and Development Ministry had issued guidelines for all the states and Union territories. The guidelines were issued to ensure safety and security of school children, including preventive mechanisms and procedures required to be put in place in the schooling system along with relief and re-dressal strategies in case of any incident, he said.
