Hyderabad District Educational Officer Issues Order Against Private Schools Selling School Uniforms

by Subeditor1

In a recent development, the District Educational Officer of Hyderabad District has issued a crucial order to all private un-aided schools in the district. The order, dated 30.05.2024, pertains to the sale of uniforms, shoes, belts, books, notebooks, and stationery within the school premises.

The order explicitly directs all Deputy Educational Officers and Deputy Inspectors of Schools in Hyderabad District to ensure that private school managements, including those affiliated with the State, CBSE, or ICSE boards, refrain from selling uniforms, shoes, belts, and other related items within the school premises. This directive is in line with court orders and emphasizes that the sale of books, notebooks, and stationery if conducted at the school counter, should be on a non-commercial, no-profit-no-loss basis.

To ensure compliance with this order, the Deputy Educational Officers are further instructed to establish mandal-level committees to regularly monitor private schools in the district. These committees will be responsible for ensuring that schools do not engage in the sale of uniforms, shoes, belts, and related items for commercial purposes. Any violations of these directives are to be promptly reported for necessary action.
