On Friday Section 144 of CrPC has been lifted in Jammu. From August 10, 2019, i.e. Saturday, all schools, colleges, and academic institutions that are closed can resume functioning normally, as per the order.

Ahead of the festival of Eid al-Adha, lifting of section 144 of CrPC is a major relief to the people of Jammu as it prohibits an assembly of more than four people.

Sushma Chauhan, District Magistrate, Jammu has issued an order that read “The order dated August 5 issued under section 144 CrPC, within Municipal Limits of Jammu district is hereby withdrawn.”

Muneer Khan, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, said in Jammu as well as in Kashmir the situation is normal. Khan said, “To maintain law and order all steps necessary will be taken. The situation is normal in Jammu and the situation is under control in Kashmir.”
