Notably, Kshitij Sodani secured a gold medal, while Paras and Shreyan clinched silver medals, and Sushil received a bronze medal.

This year, the team of four students had the honor of representing India at the prestigious International Olympiads for Informatics, an event that ranks among the world’s top five science olympiads. India has been a consistent participant in this global competition for the past 22 years, and in this year’s edition, the Indian team’s remarkable achievement, of winning a gold medal, marked the nation’s second such victory since 2014.

Kshitij Sodani proudly earned a gold medal, with Paras Kasmalkar and Shreyan Ray equally impressively securing silver medals. Sushil Raaja U’s dedication was rewarded with a well-deserved bronze medal. The delegation was led by Madhavan Mukund, Director of Chennai Mathematical Institute, and Jatin Yadav from IIT Delhi. This extraordinary performance stands as India’s best showing in the history of the IOI. The competition took place in Szeged, Hungary.

About Kshitij Sodani, the Gold Medallist:

Kshitij Sodani’s journey at the International Olympiad for Informatics has spanned four years. He commenced in 2020 with a bronze, followed by silver in both 2021 and 2022, culminating in a gold medal in 2023. Remarkably, he stands as the sole Indian student to achieve an impressive streak of four consecutive medals at IOI. In 2020, at the age of 14, he made history as the youngest medalist, and this year, at 17, he clinched a gold medal, solidifying his position as the youngest-ever gold medalist. Notably, Kshitij also excelled at the Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2023, held in Beijing, securing another well-deserved gold medal. A student at Disha Delphi Public School, Kota, has plans to pursue his undergraduate studies abroad, having applied to institutions like the National University of Singapore (NUS), which offers a full scholarship to IOI gold medalists.
