In the past, the use of technology at the school level was negligible and awareness on mental health was low. The concept of student counsellors was almost non-existent. The Macaulay’s system of education hardly provided scope for students to explore real world skills but today, the students are tech savvy and are surrounded with many problems. The fast paced world has also brought with it issues of mental health which students too are grappling with. Teachers today, have no choice but to address these problems: technology integration, mental health and real world problems not necessarily in that order though.
Artificial intelligence (AI), personalised learning tools, and immersive digital platforms are becoming integral components of Indian classrooms. From video-based teacher coaching to AI-driven administrative workflows, technology is not only revolutionising how students learn but also how teachers teach. The adoption of such tools has been accelerated by the need for adaptability and innovation in pedagogy, particularly in diverse and resource-challenged environments.
In urban schools, platforms offering virtual labs and simulations are enhancing experiential learning in subjects like science and mathematics. These tools allow students to experiment with concepts that were previously limited to textbooks.
