Co-founder of the tech-based platform of Infosys, ShiksaLokam, S D Shibulal, is keen on training and enabling over 1.5 million school leaders to improve the quality of education imparted as COVID-19 wreaks havoc in the education sector. ShiksaLokan has been grooming local partners and teachers to help them work with government bodies and improve learning outcomes. So far, about 320,000 leaders—government officials, teachers and others—have been benefitted by Infosys’ philanthropic initiative.
“ COVID-19 has disrupted education like never before and now everything is being done digitally with zero touch. Wherever ShiksaLokam has been adopted, the state actors have been more resilient in managing the education system during the outbreak,” explained Shibulal.
Till now, ShiksaLokam has reached to various state-run schools in Delhi, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Goa and is planning to expand to six more states in the coming 12 months.
The platform has been fundamental to government bodies, stakeholders, officials and professional individuals with its open-source technology and resources. It seeks to bridge the gaps in education leadership development.
“With 3.2 lakh users on our platforms and 2,500 plus learning assets, we currently impact 15 million students—which is almost 5 percent of school-going children of India,” commented in Shibulal on the impact of ShiksaLokam in schools.
