Recognizing the universal appeal of Yoga, owing to its demonstrated benefits for health and towards stress relief, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 11th December 2014. On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2023, schools across India have taken this opportunity to make students and parents aware about the rewards that Yoga offers for health and well-being.

The air at Vels Global School, Marathahalli, Bangalore , was filled with the serene vibes of yoga. The school premises were graced by the presence of volunteers from the renowned Isha Foundation, founded by the spiritual leader Sadhguru. Respected Principal, Ms. Neena Saji , heartily welcomed the Volunteers of Isha Foundation. The volunteers conducted a yoga session for students of Grade 2 to 10, who participated with utmost enthusiasm and vigor. The volunteers elaborated on the benefits of yoga in our daily lives and demonstrated various poses such as Bala Asana, Vajrasana, Sukhasana, etc. The students also learnt and explored the process of Nadi Shuddi, which is a body cleansing technique that purifies the system and enhances overall health and wellbeing.
The session was an enriching experience for the students as they were encouraged to incorporate yoga into their daily routine. The volunteers shared various sources to stay connected with yoga practice and motivated young minds to instill a sense of discipline and respect towards this ancient art form. Sadhguru’s message was also conveyed to the students, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and inner peace. This session was a great success as it left a lasting impact on the students’ minds and souls. The fruitful yoga session at Vels Global School, Marathahalli,conducted by the volunteers of Isha Foundation was a true celebration of this holistic practice that connects us with our inner selves.
