According to an official statement, Shahid Ashraf, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) took charge as the Vice Chancellor of the University. He replaced Talat Ahmad who has joined the University of Kashmir as its Vice Chancellor after serving 4 years in Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Since August 2016, Ashraf has held the position of Pro-Vice Chancellor. Currently heading the varsity’s Department of Economics, he had served the University as Registrar and Finance Officer too. “Ashraf has vast experience in teaching, research and administration. He has authored several books and research articles published in leading national and international journals. His research interests include industrial and financial economics and employment and development issues,” stated a statement from the University.
