The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has unveiled its inaugural space laboratory at Government Higher Secondary School Boys in Kishtwar. This space lab is exclusively designed for students in government schools. It was developed as part of the ISRO Space Tutor Program by Vyomika Space Academy and received funding from the Directorate of Education, Jammu. Students from Grades 6 to 12 in government schools will also have the chance to participate in skill development training sessions provided by this state-of-the-art lab.
The inaugural event took place at Government Higher Secondary School Boys in Kishtwar, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, among other dignitaries and school officials. Students and school staff were also in attendance to witness this significant occasion.
According to the official statement, the establishment of the space lab in the government school in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, marks a substantial advancement in educational technology. The lab boasts a range of advanced equipment, including a high-tech telescope, ISRO rocket, satellite demonstration models, drones, and aircraft. This array of resources is expected to empower students to delve into the mysteries of the universe and gain insights into significant space missions conducted by ISRO. This endeavor is anticipated to spark enthusiasm for astronomy-related pursuits among school students, potentially steering them toward future careers in this captivating domain.
