The first year students of the university have been attending online classes ever since the pandemic

According to an official notification, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will resume offline classes for all its students starting from next month (Aug 3rd).

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) had staged a protest last month demanding the authorities to resume offline classes for first-year students of the School of International Studies (SIS). Now, the university issued a separate notification for the particular department, asking their students to attend classes physically from August 3rd.

The university had resorted to online classes from March 2020, ever since the pandemic struck the world. Even though the institution had progressively reopened since then, the first-year students were instructed to continue with online classes.

Meanwhile, the university is planning to reintroduce deprivation points model for research students, a unique feature of the university’s admission process.
