Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan converts its school buildings into COVID-19 isolation wards taking into consideration the surging number of positive cases. Till March 31, 2020, 1117 patients have been tested positive with 102 recoveries and 32 deaths. Around 1225 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools dispersed along the country will be duly converted.
“All Kendriya Vidyalaya will allow the use of school buildings for temporary housing of likely COVID-19 cases, informed the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, in view of the coronavirus situation in the country,” commented Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
The regional offices has been directed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to permit the use of classrooms as wards. “Upon receipt of a formal request from any defence authority or district administration, the deputy commissioner/In-Charge DC/principal of KV concerned shall allow the use of Classrooms of Kendriya Vidyalaya buildings for temporarily housing suspected Covid-19 cases,” in a letter to the regional offices by the Sangathan.
The decision comes amidst government speculation to covert railway coaches into isolation unites. As of now, the Northern Railways has been successfully converted into one. Under the new plan, each zone would converts its rake with 10 coaches into isolation ward.
