Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Government of Dubai, has released its school inspection report for the year 2022-23. Responsible for the growth and development of private education in the Emirate of Dubai, KHDA rates schools on a scale of 6 and categorizes them into Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Weak and Very Weak. A copy of reports for respective categories can be downloaded from the links at the end of this article.

In all, 199 schools were inspected during the latest round of inspections. According to the report 20 schools are rated as Outstanding; 39 Very Good; 84 Good; The number of outstanding schools in Dubai increased in comparison to the findings of the last round of inspections in 2018-19. Several schools received this rating for the first time including some of the top and award winning schools.

The inspection findings reveal that 77 per cent of students in Dubai attend private schools rated Good or above compared to 70 per cent during the last full inspection before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2018-19 academic year. The release of the school inspection results is timed according to the re-enrollment deadlines for the next academic year in order to help parents take informed decisions.

Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB) of KHDA carries out this annual school inspection exercise to rate the schools using a common framework across all schools and curricula. DSIB provides comprehensive information on the standard and quality of private school education in Dubai which in turn helps plan improvement and policy formulation.

As of today, there are 2016 schools in Dubai, offering 17 different curricula and catering to 326,001 students. This is the first time all the schools are inspected after the Covid-19 pandemic. The inspections were put on hold during the pandemic. For the first time, the inspection and subsequent ratings focused on happiness in schools by rating all the schools on the KHDAs new Well Being Framework. To facilitate availability of all the information to parents, Customized Parent Summary Reports are being provided by KHDA.
