The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the technological wing of the state’s General Education Department, has initiated India’s largest Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for 1,85,114 hi-tech devices in government and aided schools across Kerala.
The AMC, which began on September 1st, covers 79,571 hi-tech devices installed in 11,226 primary and upper primary schools under the High-Tech Lab project launched in 2019. Additionally, 62,677 laptops and 42,866 projectors in government and aided high schools, higher secondary, and vocational higher secondary schools, installed during the 2018-19 period, have been under AMC since April 2023.
According to Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE, school principals should log any hardware-related complaints on the newly launched support portal, given HERE. Vendors will face penalties if issues are not addressed within the stipulated timeframe. Beyond the AMC, KITE has introduced insurance coverage for damages caused by natural disasters, theft, and other incidents, making it the largest AMC/insurance scheme for IT devices in India.
