The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has officially released the 2026 exam timetable for both Class 12 (HSC) and Class 10 (SSC) students. The early announcement aims to help schools and students prepare efficiently for the upcoming academic session through timely revisions, mock tests, and practical assessments.
HSC Exams to Begin on February 10, 2026
As per the official schedule, the HSC (Class 12) written examinations will be held from February 10 to March 18, 2026.
Before the theory papers, practical, viva, internal assessments, and project work for HSC students will take place between January 23 and February 9, 2026.
The Maharashtra board has instructed all affiliated junior colleges to adhere strictly to the schedule and ensure that internal marks and practical records are submitted within the stipulated timeframe.
SSC Exams to Commence on February 20, 2026
The SSC (Class 10) examinations are scheduled from February 20 to March 18, 2026, following the completion of practical and viva exams, which will be conducted from February 2 to February 18, 2026.
The practical assessments will cover core subjects like Science (Anatomy and Physiology), Home Science, and other applicable areas, as specified in the board’s notification. Schools have been directed to coordinate with regional education offices to ensure smooth conduct of these evaluations.
Early Announcement to Aid Better Preparation
According to board officials, the advance publication of the exam timetable is a deliberate move to support systematic preparation and stress management for both teachers and students.
“Announcing the schedule early allows institutions to plan their syllabus completion, conduct practice exams, and help students focus on revisions well in advance,” an MSBSHSE spokesperson stated.
The board also noted that this early communication will help schools manage academic calendars, sports events, and cultural activities more efficiently without overlap with exam preparations.
Consistent with Previous Year’s Timeline
In the 2025 session, HSC exams were conducted from February 11 to March 18, while SSC exams were held between February 21 and March 17. Results were published by May 15, 2025, and a similar schedule is expected for 2026.
Although the tentative timetable, usually released in August, faced a slight delay this year, officials clarified that the finalised dates will still provide ample time for preparation and coordination across schools and colleges.
