Additional Measures to Prevent Heat-Related Illnesses
Apart from adjusting school hours, authorities have instructed schools to implement precautionary measures, including:
- Ensuring classroom fans are fully functional.
- Providing students with cool drinking water.
- Educating students on preventing heat-related illnesses.
- Prohibiting outdoor classes during extreme heat.
- Encouraging students to consume seasonal fruits and vegetables to stay hydrated.
IMD Heatwave Warning and Rising Temperatures
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of persistent heatwave conditions in parts of southern Maharashtra until Sunday. Additionally, daytime temperatures in Gangetic West Bengal are expected to rise 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal.
