Mahindra & Mahindra will deploy 50 electric vehicles (EVs) on the Uber cab service platform in the city of Hyderabad before spreading to other cities. The company had earlier mentioned about its plan to explore deploying EVs across multiple cities on the online platform. Hyderabad will be the first city to experience the test run of 50 EVs before increasing the number and spreading out to other cities. The cars will include e20Plus hatchback and eVerito sedan models.
“Going forward, we plan to further deploy our vehicles across multiple cities on the Uber platform,” mentioned Mahesh Babu, Mahindra Electric CEO. The companies in a joint statement mentioned that they have been working with some public and private players to make the model sustainable. These players have already experimented and set up over 30 common use charging points across several locations in the city.
