Major connecting flyover collapsed in South Kolkata

The Majerhat Bridge near The India Government Mint, Kolkata has collapsed down suddenly. It is reported that no major casualties have been observed until now. 7 people were injured and several vehicles are trapped under the debris.

Fire brigade, Police, NDRF have already started the relief and rescue process. KP Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, and Minister Firhad Hakim have reached the spot already for the speedy process of relief.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee quipped, “We are very worried. We are receiving information from the rescue team on the ground. We want to go back as soon as possible. There are no flights in the evening; therefore we are unable to do so.” She is currently in a political visit to Darjeeling. She has also added that the prime focus is relief and rescue, rest of the investigation will be done later.
