In a recent Board of Intermediate Education, 77th meeting to be precise Minister Lokesh chaired discussions on curriculum restructuring, digital transformation, and examination reforms. Among the many changes, the commencement of academic calendar was on the list. It was decided that the government junior colleges will commence from April 1 instead of June 1. This move aims to provide students with additional preparation time and align the state’s education system with national academic timelines.

Changes

· Admissions for first-year students will begin from April 7, replacing the previous June admission cycle

· Intermediate board examinations will now be conducted in the last week of February instead of March

· Mathematics A & B subjects have been merged into a single subject

Additionally, Intermediate results from 1973 to 2003 will be digitized and made available through DigiLocker and WhatsApp Governance, allowing students to access their academic records online without hassle.

BIE will provide free competitive exam coaching material for EAPCET, JEE, and NEET aspirants on the board’s official portal. This material will be made freely available to students in government junior colleges.

MCQs

10% of assessments in Science and Humanities streams will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and fill-in-the-blank type questions, similar to the format used in competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and UPSC.

Additionally, the syllabus has been revised in line with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), ensuring that students are better equipped with practical and job-oriented knowledge.

Dual certification system
