Mangalore University organized a workshop on calligraphy The Stroke of the Pen and the Power of the Tongue Rules Supreme in collaboration with the Association of British Scholars (ABS). The calligraphy workshop was organized at University College, Hampankatta. The workshop taught attendees how to improve handwriting through observation, patience, imagination and mentoring. Handwriting is an integral part of our personality and a powerful handwriting is an effective way to impress others.
We cannot blame pupil or teachers for bad handwriting rather we all are victims of a system that does not lay emphasis on a good handwriting. A beautiful handwriting is not a gift by birth but it is the result of observation and learning. Mahatma Gandhi said that “I saw that bad handwriting should be regarded as a sign of an imperfect education, I tried to improve mine, but it was too late. I could never repair the neglect of my youth”. Handwriting becomes attractive when the size of the letters and the space between them is adequate. We may lose cognitive power and memory if we forget handwriting. Ultimately our vocabulary becomes barren. A beautiful handwriting is a simple tool to showcase ourselves to others.
