Manipur Declares Half-Holiday to Honor Late MLA N Kayisii

Manipur observes half-holiday to honor MLA N Kayisii; North Indian schools reopen after extended winter break.

The Manipur government declared a half-holiday today to honour MLA N Kayisii, who passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness. Kayisii, 58, represented the Tadubi constituency in Senapati district. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed condolences over Kayisii’s death and issued a statement announcing the half-holiday.

“All government offices and schools in Manipur will close from 1 pm on January 20, 2025, as a tribute to (Late) N Kayisii,” the statement read.

North Indian Schools Reopen After Winter Break

Schools in North India resumed classes on January 17 after an extended winter vacation caused by severe cold conditions. In Uttar Pradesh, schools in cities like Badaun, Sambhal, and Shahjahanpur reopened after being closed until January 17. Moradabad and Rampur schools revised timings for Classes 9–12 to 10 am to 3 pm.
