The Meghalaya government is making a significant move to improve education by adding QR codes to school textbooks.

Education Secretary A Marak announced this initiative on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, explaining that it is designed to give students easy access to extra information.

Marak stated that the main goal of this initiative is to help students manage their time better and provide them with additional knowledge resources.  He said that they are incorporating quick response (QR) codes into school textbooks, which will provide additional information on specific subjects. The aim is to reinforce students’ ability to manage time well and further knowledge as per one’s choice.

By scanning these QR codes with their mobile devices, students can access a wealth of educational apps that include video lessons and solved question papers. This approach not only saves time spent searching for study materials but also allows students to concentrate more on their learning.

Marak said that by scanning QR codes with mobile devices, students will get access to educational apps with video lessons and solved question papers, reducing the time spent searching for study materials and enabling greater focus on learning.

R. Manner, Director of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), highlighted the potential benefits of embedding QR codes in specific textbooks, noting that it could greatly assist students in improving their skills in particular subjects.

Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma also praised the initiative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive educational resources to students in Meghalaya.

This innovative step marks a new chapter in Meghalaya’s education system, promising to make learning more efficient and accessible for students across the state. The integration of QR codes in textbooks is set to revolutionize the way students interact with their study materials, offering a blend of traditional and digital learning methods.
