The Delhi government strictly prohibits mobile phones in classrooms in both private and government schools. For any emergency, parents or guardians can call the school’s helpline number.
Announcement has been made by the Directorate of Education (DoE) regarding prohibition on usage of mobile phones for students in both private and government schools in Delhi. Teachers and staff members are requested to avoid using their mobile phones in classrooms, laboratories, playgrounds and libraries.
As per circular published by DoE, parents are required to ensure that their children do not bring mobile phones into school premises. If any student does bring mobile phones, then the school authority should keep them in a safe locker and return it to the students after school hours.
In any emergency situation, parents or guardians can contact the school on the schools’ helpline number. Every school is required to give the helpline number to all the parents for emergency purposes.
This banning decision has been made to create a more meaningful and learning atmosphere in the school. DoE advisory adds that mobile phones have the potential to put a negative influence on students, affecting their academic performance, face-to-face conversation quality, closeness, life satisfaction and connection.
Parents are recommended to ensure that their children do not carry mobile phones in schools. This advisory has been published for all private and government schools in Delhi.
