Good news to job-seekers, Indian Railways may soon hire more than 80,000 people for technical works. The Railways Board has given a green signal to fill up the vacancies for technical posts on contract basis. The salary could be up to Rs.37, 000.
It is reported that the shortage staff has been hampering several Railways’ projects. It is estimated that about 25% of the 3.5 lakh of technical posts is lying vacant currently.
Railways are already conducting computer-based tests for filling up 1.2 lakh posts of Assistant Loco Pilot, Technicians and Level-I (Group D) staffs. As many as 2.4 crore candidates have applied for these posts.
