Karnataka’s School Education Minister, Madhu Bangarappa, announced that more than 6.9 lakh students have enrolled for the Second PUC (Class 12) exams, while 8.9 lakh students have registered for the SSLC (class 10) examinations. Of the 6.9 lakh students registered for the PUC exams, 3.3 lakh students are male and 3.6 lakh students are female. Of the registrations received for the SSLC exams, 4.5 lakh are male and 4.3 lakh are female. The Second PUC exams are scheduled from March 1 to March 22, and the SSLC exams from March 25 to April 6.
The Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has designated 1124 centers for PUC and 2747 for SSLC. This year, KSEAB will conduct three annual examinations (Exams 1, 2, and 3) for SSLC and Second PUC students, as per the directive issued earlier. Consequently, Karnataka’s education department will eliminate the supplementary examination concept for SSLC and Second PUC exams. To be eligible for Exams 2 and 3, students must register for Exam 1, as mandated by KSEAB. This initiative aims to provide students with an opportunity to enhance their overall performance. The best scores from the three examinations will be considered for results. In 2022-23, the board implemented this ‘remedial system’ enabling students to keep the highest score attained in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd examinations.
