Over 7,000 students from Class 10 and 12 will take the “bochhor bachao” (save year) exam, anticipated to be held in the last week of July, a Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) official announced on July 3rd. The “bochhor bachao” examinations were introduced by the Tripura government in 2020 to give students who failed up to two subjects a chance to be promoted to the next class or gain college entry after passing a retest. Students must score at least 150 marks in these exams.
Out of 2042 Class 10 candidates who requested a review of their examination papers, 747 received revised scores, 21 previously failing students received passing marks, and seven students who still failed will now take the “bochhor bachao” exams to clear their two subjects. Similarly, 1385 Class 12 candidates applied for a review, resulting in revised scores for 510 candidates, with only one student needing to take the “bochhor bachao” examinations. According to TBSE Secretary Dulal Dey, a total of 3,199 Class 10 candidates and 4,236 Class 12 candidates will appear for the “bochhor bachao” examinations following the review of their results.
