Dr Ashok Kumar Thakur, renowned educationist and founder of innovative educational methods titled Muni Methodologies, is known for the barrier free learners centric methods, with Bhartiya Darshan/ideology with universal synergy inoculation emphasising peer learning and learner to be the founder and constructor of one’s information to wisdom guided by Gurus.
Then Ashok Kumar Thakur built Muni International School, he wanted to create innovators and change-makers that don’t just follow but lead. Thus, he created the Research and Development wing at the school, the first of its kind, developing forty plus Muni Methodologies appreciated by UNESCO. Muni International School is the only Japanese partnered school in India and Ashoka Foundation’s Change Makers School. Among the many accolades awarded, the institute received the American Leadership Award. He collaborated with Japanese and Canadian schools and universities to bring out the best in individuals, for mutual contentment and humanization of education.
Ashok Kumar Thakur developed IPDS, an initiative to find one’s unique potential to live life to the fullest. Every individual owns the freedom of imagination and freedom of action which should be enriched with values. He applied Guided Discovery at his school, where teachers acted as guides and students were the ultimate discoverers.
Ashok Kumar Thakur practiced UPLC, a method of Bhartiya Ideology with which universities and gurukuls achieved position as Vishwa Guru in ancient world, which tries to inculcate listening, reading and contemplation of information to earn knowledge and wisdom.
Along with Guided Discovery and UPLC, Group Reciprocal and Responsibility System(GRS) of peer learning/collaborated learning is practiced in the school. Peer review provides highest retention of learning, bringing verification and self-assessment (Nirikshan) from others while also winning buddies (Parikshan) and ensuring precision with group-assessments (Sarvakshan). PPMS rationally verifies child’s learning with the self, or in families, schools and community.
True learning begins when a child reaches metacognition. Ashok Kumar Thakur thus began ‘Am I Able’, an initiative in which every child is assured of her/his learning after completing every topic.
